I love the beginning of a fresh month to get those motivational juices flowing. Personally, I like to treat the beginning of each month like a mini new year. So, at the end of each month I try to complete the following tasks in order to prepare myself for a fresh start.
Today I will be sharing with you the tasks I get done at the beginning of every month to start fresh AND I will be sharing a PRINTABLE YEARLY CLEANING LIST. But, before we jump in be sure to follow my Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest to get more updates from me on my day to day life.
1. Review Goals
At the beginning of each month it is the perfect time to check back in on our yearly goals and to make progress on things we haven’t gotten to yet. At the end of the month I try to take 30 minutes to reflect on my progress over the last month. I like to reflect on what I accomplished, what didn’t get done, why it didn’t get done, and most importantly, what I will work on in the following months.
I like to set myself mini weekly and monthly goals so that I am always moving forward towards achieving my bigger overall goals for the year.
During my monthly reflection, I also like to take inventory of what kind of appointments may be coming up, or that I should schedule. When’s the last time you went to the doctors, dentists, eye doctors, hair dressers, nail salon, physiotherapist, chiropractors, etc?
Make those appointments and put them in the calendar.
To prepare for the new month I like to check for upcoming birthdays. From there I like to go out and buy cards and gifts. This helps to keep me organized and not scrambling at the last minute to find a gift or card. I have it on my to-do list, so I know I won’t forget.
The end of the month it is also a great time to clean up and get rid of things that you no longer need. This is a great time to go through your purse, back pack, fridge, closet, pantry, etc. Maybe you don’t go through all of these items every month, but make sure that you go through certain things quarterly.
To go along with the previous tip, make sure that you are DEEP CLEANING certain parts of your home and life every month or so. This could include cleaning your oven, microwave, pantry, washing machine, furnace, changing the sheets, washing the dog, and more. To help you keep track of all of these things, I have created a list for you all to use, to tackle YEARLY CLEANING.
This is something we really should be doing everyday or at least every week. But, it would also be a good practice to get in the habit of doing this once every month. Clear off some space on your phone and back up all your photos and documents to an external hard drive.
Ah yes budgeting, the joy. Although this is not the most fun thing, it definitely is important to have your finances in order. At the beginning of each month, try to look ahead to see where your expenses will be going. Check for upcoming events, birthdays, or other expenses, and budget for them accordingly. This may also be a great time to do a “no-buy” where you buy nothing other than necessities for the month.
I hope that you found this post helpful and that it gave you some motivation to get all your ducks in a row for the upcoming month. Make sure that you check out the PRINTABLE YEARLY CLEANING LIST and share it with a friend who may need it.
