5 ESSENTIAL STEPS FOR A AN AWESOME MORNING ROUTINE

Mornings can be hard for everyone. But, once you create a beautiful morning routine, you will soon start to love mornings just as much as I do. Now I’m not saying I love to get up in the morning, quite the opposite in fact. However, once I do manage to get up, I am so glad that I left myself time for my morning rituals.

There is something about getting up early, before the world has started that makes me feel calm and at peace. But don’t worry, you can still follow these steps if you wake up at 9am, but for me I start my day at 7am most days. My rituals have become sacred for me because I love to have time for myself in the morning to start my day off with intention.

So here is a list of 5 essential steps to building an awesome morning routine. Each of these steps will lead you through a morning routine with intention, purpose and moments of self care. This will start your day off right and lead you into a productive and happy day.

1. HYDRATE

Throughout the night we become dehydrated, so it is very important that when you wake up you take the time to hydrate.  I start my day off with just a simple glass of water, this really helps to wake me up and get my digestive system going.

2. BE MINDFUL

Before allowing the world to enter into my life, I be sure to be mindful and set my intention for the day. For many people, they wake up, roll over, grab their phone and start replying to emails, answering messages, and scrolling through social media. When you do this, you are allowing other people dictate how you start your day and what you see. So, for myself I try not to go on my phone for at least 30 minutes after waking up and try not to use social media for at least an hour after waking up.

Instead, I start my day with intention and mindful moments. I personally will take a few moments to journal and meditate. During my morning session I will write out all my mantras and I will do some premanifestation for the day. Premanifestation journaling is something I started doing a few months ago and it has been really awesome to set my day up for success. In this journaling session I will write down what I am going to achieve today. Writing as if it is already so and already done, helps you to manifest it to happen. After writing in my journal, I will typically repeat my mantras out loud.

However, you do not need to journal or meditate to be mindful in the morning. You can make something as simple as your skin care routine your mindful moment. By really being present and focusing on your skin care this can be a moment to slow down, focus on the present, and set your day up with intention.

3. MOVE YOUR BODY

After my mindful moment, I will typically do some form of movement for the day. This has been more difficult while injured, but even just some stretches or light walking will do. But, this movement really could be anything from a yoga session, a HIIT workout, or a nice gentle walk. As I have previously mentioned in my Pain Management post, moving helps me deal with my physical pain. So, starting off the day with some movement helps to ensure that I start my digestive system, plus it helps to wake you up. So no matter what it is you do, do something in the morning, even if it’s only for few minutes.

4. NOURISH

Not everyone loves to eat breakfast in the morning, but I personally need to eat breakfast every day. For one, I feel like a zombie if I don’t and secondly, I also need to get something in my stomach to start up my digestive system. So, fuel your body and eat some breakfast. I personally love having avocado toast, but I also love to make a vegetable and egg scramble too some days. If you don’t like eating in the morning I recommend trying a smoothie. You can have these on the go and they are usually easier to eat.

5. GET INSPIRED

Every morning while I am doing my makeup and commuting I try to listen to an inspirational podcast or watch one of my favorite content creators. This is a great way to get inspired and/or learn something new while multi-tasking. For you this may mean watching a funny video, learning a new skill on Youtube, or watching one of the hundreds of TED Talks. But, whatever it is try to do something to jump start your brain in the morning.

I hope that you enjoyed a little peek into my morning routine, and have gained some inspiration on how to mix up your routine if you have been feeling off. So remember to get up, start your day on a positive note, and you will be amazed at how this positivity will stay with you throughout your day.
